Wish Tree


I plucked a tag from my
Wish tree and sent it out
Into the ether like a
Dandelion parachute

It fluttered away and
Landed at your feet
"I wish to be a mother"
You ground it into the dirt

I picked another wish
Rolled it into a bottle in the ocean
It washed ashore unread
"I wish to be left alone."

I ripped down a third wish
And thrust it into your hands
"I wish for you to hear me."
You turned around in silence
